Chicken Life Cycle

Egg

The chicken begins life inside an egg. The mother hen keeps the egg warm until it hatches.

Hatchling

A hatchling is the baby chicken that has just come out of the egg. It is very small and weak at first.

Chick

The hatchling grows into a chick. Chicks are fluffy, active, and begin to learn how to eat on their own.

Adult Chicken

The chicken is fully grown. Adult hens lay eggs and roosters can crow, starting the life cycle again.
